Recognized by Health Canada<\/strong> as a natural health product capable of fighting urinary tract infections,<\/strong>B4 Urinary Formula uses as a medicinal ingredient<\/strong> our full-spectrum American cranberry<\/strong> powder (bark, seeds, pulp, juice) with a concentration ratio of 10:1.<\/strong> The same American cranberry powder<\/strong> that we sell as a functional food.<\/p>\n

The effectiveness of American cranberries in fighting urinary tract infections.<\/h2>\n

When it comes to protecting against urinary tract infections, the molecules in American cranberries that are the most active are proanthocyanidins type A. These molecules have the ability to prevent the bacteria’s adhesins E. coli<\/em> from clinging to the walls of the urinary tract thus preventing it from creating the infection.<\/p>\n

It is interesting to know that only the American cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon<\/em>) that Europeans call the cranberry<\/em> has this power. Other cranberry families would not be effective because they would have too low a concentration of proanthocyanes.<\/p>\n

The American cranberry would not be the only small Nordic fruit capable of fighting urinary tract infections<\/h2>\n

We know that other Nordic berries have phenolic compositions almost similar to cranberry macrocarpon and that they also contain a high concentration of this type of molecules. Many of these berries are under study and the results available so far indicate that some of them also seem to be very effective in fighting urinary tract infections.<\/p>\n

As Health Canada allows their use as non-medicinal ingredients, we simply mixed them with our medicinal ingredient, our 10:1 U.S. cranberry powder.<\/p>\n

Among these small fruits is the red lingonberry (Vaccinium vitis idaea<\/em>). Just like its cousin the wild blueberry(Vaccinium angustifolium)<\/em>which is much smaller than its American namesake, the corymb blueberry(Vaccinium corymbosium),<\/em>the idea lingonberry is twice as small as the American cranberry (atoka). However, this deficit is only valid for size because wild blueberries (dwarf blueberries) and lingonberry idaea have significantly higher antioxidant capacities. From single to double in favor of the wild blueberry also called the dwarf blueberry and lingonberry idaea.<\/p>\n

And for aronia (virginia cherry), it is at the top of the antioxidant capabilities of all Nordic berries.<\/p>\n
